Position Summary
The Survey Technician – Instrument Operator position will be responsible for working with and taking direction from a supervising Crew Chief and office staff, working in the field to complete various land survey projects primarily located in Walton and Okaloosa, County, Florida. They will have the experience or ambition to learn to ensure the accuracy of field work, remain punctual, operate and maintain Trimble survey equipment, adhere to all applicable safety procedures and other duties as necessary to complete a diverse variety land surveying and development projects.
For entry level positions, while experience is a plus, Innerlight Engineering will provide the training and experience necessary to become a successful Land Survey Technician – Instrument Operator, offering job growth and opportunity for candidates that demonstrate ambition, ability, and most importantly a positive attitude.
Requirements
- Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in site/civil projects is preferred
- Proven record of being a team player, strong work ethic and dependability
- Strong math and reasoning skills
- Prior experience in a civil or related engineering consulting firm is preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Commitment to detail and quality of work
- Ability to positively communicate with peers and clients
- Ability to work overtime
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs., bend and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hour day in varying terrain
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with the company’s Safety Manual
- Ability to use basic computer applications.

Responsibilities
- Collect field survey data using conventional and robotic total stations and GPS survey equipment
- Interact with the survey crews as well as ensure that the proper field data is being collected
- Become familiar with land survey standards of various government agencies to make sure finished survey efforts are following minimum technical standards
- Other duties as necessary to complete complex survey projects
